What EC50 means.
EC50 is the fresh-food-side twin of EC40 on Sub-Zero Classic dual-compressor units. The refrigerator compressor has been running longer than the controller expects without reaching the target box temperature. Same root causes as EC40 but on the refrigerator system: dirty condenser coils, weak condenser fan, leaking door seal, or low refrigerant charge. This is the most-Googled Sub-Zero code because it shows up on Classic 600 and 700 series units around the 8–12 year mark, almost always for coil-cleaning reasons.
