What PF means.

PF stands for "Power Failure." Like Whirlpool's PO, this is not a fault code — it is the controller telling you that power was interrupted and food may have warmed up. GE units flash PF along with a beep until you acknowledge it. The most useful information PF gives you is "check your frozen food before assuming it is safe": a 30-minute outage at room temperature is fine, but a 6-hour outage may have soft-thawed everything.

Most common causes.

  • Recent power outage from the utility.

  • Plug was pulled and re-inserted.

  • Breaker tripped and was reset.

  • Surge protector cycled.
