What CC means.

CC means the refrigerator compartment (not the freezer) cannot maintain its target temperature. On GE bottom-freezer and French-door units this is most often a frost-up of the evaporator coil — frost blocks the airflow path between the freezer and the fridge, so the freezer keeps cooling but the fridge slowly warms. CC may show alongside FF if both compartments are losing temperature, or alone if only the fresh-food side is affected.

  • Evaporator coil frosted over (defrost system fault).

  • Damper stuck closed between freezer and fridge.

  • Evaporator fan failed (fresh-food side gets no airflow).

  • Door gasket leaking.

  • Thermistor reading wrong.
