Viking Refrigerator Error Code CL
Condenser cleaning reminder — coils are dirty enough to affect cooling.
What CL means.
CL on a Viking fridge stands for "Clean condenser." It is the controller telling you the condenser coils on the front toe-kick are clogged with dust, pet hair, or kitchen lint. Viking units use a brushed-aluminum kick plate that pulls a lot of debris into the condenser grille. Once airflow is restricted, the compressor runs longer to maintain temperature, energy bills creep up, and eventually the refrigerator will not hold the right temperature at all. CL is one of the easiest Viking codes to fix yourself.
Most common causes.
-
Condenser coils packed with dust at the front grille (most common).
-
Pet hair has matted across the condenser fan.
-
Kitchen rug or basket blocking airflow at the toe-kick.
-
Sensor on the condenser reading dirty due to dust on the sensor itself.
Try this first — safe DIY troubleshooting.
-
Pop the toe-kick grille off (most Viking models — pull straight forward, no tools).
-
Vacuum the visible coils with a brush attachment. Slide a coil brush through to dislodge the embedded dust.
-
Vacuum the condenser fan blade — pet hair wraps the hub.
-
Re-install the grille. CL should clear within 10 minutes; if it does not, hold the temperature-up button for 5 seconds to clear.
-
If CL returns within 30 days, the condenser fan may be slow — schedule a diagnostic.

I couldn't recommend this company more highly. I have used them several times and found Ivan to be knowledgeable, responsive, honest and courteous. He has saved me from buying a new refrigerator twice and unlike so many vendors, he is always able to diagnose the problem quickly and always knows how to fix it. If you want someone reliable who truly knows his craft and is always fair and reasonable, call We Fix Fridges!

We have used this company several times now. I wanted to leave a review because Ivan really went above and beyond for this last repair the day before a big holiday weekend. He saved us! 100% recommend him. Besides being so knowledgeable which helps with diagnosis to repairs he is courteous and timely and we have found his prices to be very fair. It's hard to find a trustworthy reliable repair person. We have Ivan on text now!

Highly recommended. Been in business with Ivan 3 different times with different appliances and all were satisfactory with problem fixed. He even figured out an indirect minor issue and fixed it for us with no charge without us asking for it. Ivan will be the first one I call in any cases of an appliance that needs repair.
