What 88 88 means.

"88 88" on a Samsung display is a control-board fault. The board has powered up, but its self-test failed and it is showing "all segments lit" (which looks like 88 88) as the error indication. Most often this follows a power surge that damaged the board, or after a long unplug-replug cycle that left the firmware in an unknown state. The unit will not cool until the board clears. Sometimes a long power-down resets it; sometimes the board needs replacement.
