What OF F means.

OF F means demo (showroom) mode is on. The display, lights, and dispenser all work normally but the compressor is disabled — so the unit makes no cold air. This mode exists so LG dealers can run showroom units without the noise and energy cost of an active fridge. Almost always activated accidentally by a curious finger or left on after delivery. If your LG "is running but not cooling," check this first.

Most common causes.

Try this first — safe DIY troubleshooting.

  1. On most LG French door models: press and hold "Refrigerator" and "Ice Plus" buttons together for 5 seconds.

  2. On older models: hold the Express Cool button for 5 seconds.

  3. Watch for "OF F" to disappear and listen for the compressor to start within 60 seconds.

  4. If the buttons differ on your model, the rating plate inside the fridge gives the model number.
