Compressor relay fault — linear compressor will not start.
What Er 22 means.
Er 22 on an LG refrigerator means the compressor start relay has failed. LG's newer linear compressors use an inverter-driven start circuit; when that circuit fails the compressor cannot run, and the entire unit stops cooling. Unfortunately Er 22 is not something a homeowner can troubleshoot — LG's own documentation says "no DIY steps, schedule a repair." On many models the relay is integrated into the inverter board, so the fix is a board swap rather than a single component.

Error code Er 22 on a LG refrigerator indicates a sealed-system or high-voltage fault. The work involves refrigerant under pressure or a brazed-shut compressor circuit and requires EPA Section 608 certified equipment plus specialized vacuum and recovery tools. Attempting it yourself can release refrigerant (an EPA violation), damage the compressor permanently, or cause electrical injury.
