The Café CWE, CFE, and CGE French-door refrigerators ride on the same mechanical chassis as GE Profile — same compressor families, same evaporator layout, same defrost-system parts. What changes is the front: WiFi Connect modules, brushed-bronze or matte-black hardware, the SmartHQ app integration, and a different user-interface board. Most of the Cafés we open up have a fault that lives in the WiFi or the user-interface electronics, not in the cooling system. When the cooling does fail, the parts are GE Profile parts.

Common Café issues we see

• WiFi Connect module hangs. The fridge stops reporting to SmartHQ, the user-interface board starts freezing intermittently, the temperature display goes blank, and a hard reset clears it for a few weeks before the cycle repeats.
• Ice-maker board failures on CFE and CWE. Same fault as GE Profile — the harvest cycle stalls, water backs into the mold, the bin fills with a single frozen block, and the freezer drifts warm from the heater staying on too long.
• Water-line solenoid failures. The dispenser pad clicks but no water comes out, or the line slow-drips behind the unit. Common on the CWE-23 and CFE-28 platforms past 5 years.
• Counter-depth gasket compression failures on CYE/CSE. The shallower cabinet runs a tighter gasket spec, and when the gasket loses memory the door stops sealing along the top edge.
• Evaporator-fan motor wear on CDE columns. Same shared GE chassis fault — the freezer holds while the fresh-food side drifts warm.
• Brushed-bronze handle hardware loosening. Cosmetic but common — the set screws back out under daily use, and the handle goes loose. We carry the hex set on the truck.

What the diagnostic includes

Visit starts with a $65 in-home diagnosis, waived if you authorize the repair. We carry common GE Café parts on the truck — ice-maker boards, water-inlet solenoids, evaporator fans, door switches, gasket sets — and pull WiFi modules and user-interface boards through the GE Appliances parts channel when they are needed. Written quote before any work, parts and labor under a 3-month warranty (6 to 12 months on compressor and sealed-system work).
