Common issues we fix.

  • Frozen sheet on the freezer floor, water under the crisper.

Bottom-freezer drainage clog on RF522, RF610, and RF170 platforms; defrost water cannot reach the evaporation pan and pools under the lower crisper.

    Typical time
    60–90 min
    Typical cost
    $300–$525+
  • Display reads correct, cabinet temperature actually wrong.

ActiveSmart compressor sensor fault — variable-speed compressor logic depends on accurate cabinet thermistors; sensor drift sends the compressor short-cycling or running flat-out.

    Typical time
    60–120 min
    Typical cost
    $325–$575+
  • Column reporting E-series fault code that points the wrong way.

Control-board fault on RS2484/RS3084/RS3685 columns; codes point to one component while the actual fault sits elsewhere on the bus, requiring board-level diagnosis.

    Typical time
    60–120 min
    Typical cost
    $400–$900+
  • Integrated column beeping nonstop with the door closed.

Door-alarm reed-switch failure on integrated columns; the magnetic switch on the cabinet edge has cracked and the unit can't track door state.

    Typical time
    45–90 min
    Typical cost
    $300–$500+

Models we service most.

More about Fisher & Paykel repair.

Fisher & Paykel runs a narrow counter-depth chassis with its own diagnostic logic.

Fisher & Paykel is now Haier-owned but the New Zealand engineering still drives the platform — narrow counter-depth bodies, ActiveSmart variable-speed compressors, integrated column architecture on the RS series. The control board reports faults differently than a Whirlpool or a Samsung, and a generic refrigerator tech often replaces the wrong component because the diagnostic flow is non-standard. We service Fisher & Paykel often enough that the path is short.

Common Fisher & Paykel issues we see

  • Bottom-freezer drainage clogs on RF series. Defrost water cannot reach the evaporation pan, water pools under the lower crisper drawer, and the homeowner finds a frozen sheet on the freezer floor. Common on RF522, RF610, RF170 platforms.
  • ActiveSmart compressor sensor faults. The variable-speed compressor logic depends on accurate cabinet thermistors. When a sensor drifts, the compressor either short-cycles or runs flat-out, and the cabinet temperature reads correct on the display but wrong inside.
  • Control-board fault codes on column platforms. The RS2484, RS3084, and RS3685 columns report E-series codes that point to one component while the actual fault sits elsewhere on the bus. Board-level diagnosis is required.
  • Ice-maker fill-cycle stalls on RF prime models. The cube tray stays empty, the dispenser pad clicks, and the inlet solenoid is the usual culprit.
  • Door-alarm sensor failures on integrated columns. The unit beeps continuously even with the door closed, because the magnetic reed switch on the cabinet edge has cracked.
  • Evaporator-fan motor wear on 7+ year RF units. Freezer holds, fresh-food side drifts warm, and the airflow up from the freezer chamber stops.

Models we service most often

RF series freestanding French-door: RF170, RF201, RF522, RF610. Integrated columns: RS2484, RS3084, RS3685. ActiveSmart bottom-freezer E-series. Older Izona platform on legacy units.

What the diagnostic includes

Visit starts with a $65 in-home diagnosis, waived if you authorize the repair. We carry common F&P parts on the truck — drainage components, evaporator fans, door switches, water-inlet valves — and order ActiveSmart compressor and control-board parts through the Haier-Fisher & Paykel parts channel when needed. Written quote before any work, parts and labor under a 3-month warranty (6 to 12 months on sealed-system work).

We are an independent Fisher & Paykel repair shop

We are not factory-authorized and not affiliated with Fisher & Paykel Appliances Holdings Ltd. or Haier Group. We service Fisher & Paykel because we have invested in the parts inventory, the diagnostic tools, and the years of repair history.

What your neighbors said this month.

  • I couldn't recommend this company more highly. I have used them several times and found Ivan to be knowledgeable, responsive, honest and courteous. He has saved me from buying a new refrigerator twice and unlike so many vendors, he is always able to diagnose the problem quickly and always knows how to fix it. If you want someone reliable who truly knows his craft and is always fair and reasonable, call We Fix Fridges!

  • We have used this company several times now. I wanted to leave a review because Ivan really went above and beyond for this last repair the day before a big holiday weekend. He saved us! 100% recommend him. Besides being so knowledgeable which helps with diagnosis to repairs he is courteous and timely and we have found his prices to be very fair. It's hard to find a trustworthy reliable repair person. We have Ivan on text now!

  • Highly recommended. Been in business with Ivan 3 different times with different appliances and all were satisfactory with problem fixed. He even figured out an indirect minor issue and fixed it for us with no charge without us asking for it. Ivan will be the first one I call in any cases of an appliance that needs repair.
